Kent Belleği Olgusunun Konya Kenti Örneğinde İncelenmesi

Abstract

Tarihsel süreç içerisinde devingen bir halde bulunan, yaşayan, büyüyen ve gelişen kentler her birey için farklı anlam taşımakta; kentte yaşanan deneyimler ve kenti deneyimleme süresinin her birey için değişmesi kişilerin kentle kurduğu iletişimi kendine özgü kılmaktadır. Bu anlamda, kent ve kentli arasında kurulan bağ bireylerin kendini yaşadıkları yere ait hissetmesini ve sahiplenmesini sağlamaktadır. İnsanların bireysel bellekte depoladığı anılarının somut yansıması olan mekânlar, bireyler için geçmiş ve bugün arasındaki bağı temsil eden kentsel bellek ögeleridir. Kentler planlanırken anılarla özdeşleşen mekânların korunması, kent planlama sürecinin sosyolojik boyutunun bir parçasıdır. Dolayısıyla, fiziksel çevrenin tamamen ya da kısmen değişimi kent ve kentli arasında kurulan bağa zarar vermekte, aidiyet hissini ortadan kaldırmakta ve kentlinin geçmiş ve bugün arasında bağ kurmasını engellemektedir. Çalışma kapsamında zengin tarihi ve ev sahipliği yaptığı medeniyetlerden birçok iz taşıyan Konya kenti incelenmiş, kentlerin gelişmesinin/değişmesinin bir sonucu olarak kentsel mekânların yitimi ya da sürekliliğinin kent belleği için önemi araştırılmıştır. Bu çerçevede, kent belleğindeki mekânsal izleri tespit etmek amacıyla Konya'da yaşayan farklı yaş grubundan insanlarla görüşülmüş, sözlü tarih yöntemiyle yapılan derinlemesine görüşmeler sonucunda tespit edilen mekânların/yapıların günümüzde ayakta olup olmadığı saptanmıştır. Çalışmada öğrenilen bilgiler ışığında kentlilerin hatıralarında özdeşleşen mekânların kente aidiyet hissini arttırdığı, yaş gruplarına göre kentin mekânsal kullanımının değiştiği, kadın ve erkek katılımcıların kenti deneyimlemelerinin farklı olduğu görülmüştür. Genç katılımcıların kenti deneyimlerken daha rahat davrandığı, 45 yaş üzeri kadın katılımcıların gençlik dönemlerine kıyasla kenti deneyimlerken daha özgür olduğu ve değişen tüketim kültürünün getirisi olan AVM'lerin 45 yaş üzeri kentliler tarafından benimsenmediği sonucuna ulaşılmıştır.

Cities those develop with humanbeings in historical process have different meanings for people who lives in the city. The experiences in the city and changes in the time of the experience for each person makes the communication between person and city unique. This special bond leads people to feel belonging to the city. Urban spaces, which support to remembrance of people stored in individual memory, are urban memory items that represent the link between past and present for individuals. The conservation of places those are identified with memories is a part of sociological perpective of urban planning process. The complete change of the physical environment not only damages the bond which is established between the city and the person, but also eliminates the sense of belonging and prevents people from making a connection between past and present. In this study, Konya which has plenty of clues for its rich history and the civilizations it has been hosting, was examined. The importance of the loss or permanence of urban spaces as a result of the development / change of the cities for the city memory was analyzed. In order to determine the spatial traces in the city memory, people from various age groups living in Konya were interviewed. As a result of the in deep interviews conducted within the scope of oral history method, it has been determined whether the spaces / buildings identified are standing today and the changes of these spaces / buildings in the historical process have been examined. It is seen during the study that the spaces identified with the memories of the citizens increased the sense of belonging to the city, the spatial usage of the city changed according to age groups, and the experiences of the male and female participants were different. It was concluded that young participants behaved more comfortably while they experiencing the city and female participants over 45 years of age are more free comparing to their youth. shopping malls are not accepted by people over 45 years of age.
