The Views of Metropolitan Municipality Assembly Members on the Impact of Public Professional Organizations on Local Politics: A Sample for Eskişehir and Konya

Abstract

Professional organizations are important actors in shaping local politics. They represent the interests and concerns of specific sectors or occupational groups. Their participation in local politics can influence policy decisions, legislation and the general governance of a region.The aim of this study is to analyze how professional organizations impact local politics and the place of professional organizations in local politics. In this context, face-to-face in-depth interviews were conducted with the mayors and vice mayors of Odunpazarı and Tepebaşı districts of Eskişehir province. According to the results of the research, the participants care about the opinions of professional organizations and the importance of a good relationship between local government and professional organizations. In addition, it has been determined that they have an indirect influence on local politics, but are insufficient in direct influence.
