Üniversite Giriş Kapılarında ‘Tarihsici ve Popülist Yaklaşımlar’

Abstract

Devlet yönetiminin gücünü gösteren ve bir prestij kaynağı olan kamu yapıları, kent kimliğinin şekillenmesinde önemli bir role sahiptir. Ülkemizde son dönem kamu yapılarının cephelerinde olduğu gibi üniversite giriş kapılarında da geçmiş mimarinin bir maske şeklinde canlandırılmaya çalışıldığı ve tarihsel referansların kullanımında artış olduğu görülmektedir. Bu çalışma ile tarihsici yaklaşımla tasarlanan üniversite giriş kapılarını, cephe kimlik açısından biçimsel olarak analiz etmek ve tartışmak amaçlanmıştır. Bu kapsamda ülkemizde bulunan 10 adet üniversiteye ait toplam 12 giriş kapısı biçimsel analiz yöntemi ile değerlendirilmiştir. Bu amaçla çalışmada öncelikle kapsamlı bir literatür ve arşiv taraması yapılarak, incelenen üniversite giriş kapılarının alıntı yaptıkları tarihi dönemler ve yöresel mimari örnekler belirlenmiş; taklit ettikleri mimari elemanlar görseller üzerinde işaretlenerek belirtilmiştir. Çalışmanın devamında ise seçilen üniversite giriş kapılarındaki tarihsici ve popülist yaklaşımlar özetlenmiştir. Çalışma kapsamında elde edilen bulgulara göre; incelenen üniversite giriş kapılarının ağırlıklı olarak tarihsicilik üzerine temellendirildiği ve cephe kimlik tasarımında çeşitli tarihsel ve yöresel mimari referansların birebir kopyalandığı tespit edilmiştir. En çok taklit edilen mimari dönemin “Selçuklu Dönemi”, en fazla taklit edilen mimari ögelerin ise “Taç kapı, kemer ve geometrik ve çini bezemeler” olduğu belirlenmiştir. Sonuç olarak kopyalanan bu ögelerin dönemin bağlamından koparılarak kullanılması, sahte gerçeklikler ve simülasyonlar üretmenin ötesine geçemeyecektir. Bu nedenle çağın gerekliliklerine uygun olmayan postmodernist ve tarihsici uygulamaların yerine işlevin gerektirdiği çağdaş uygulamalara yönelinmelidir.

Public buildings, which show the power of the state administration and are a source of prestige, have an important role in shaping the identity of the city. In our country, it is seen that the past architecture is tried to be revived as a mask and there is an increase in the use of historical references in the entrance gates of the university, as in the facades of the recent public buildings. With this study, it is aimed to analyze and discuss the university entrance gates, designed with a historicism approach, in terms of facade identity. In this context, a total of 12 entrance gates belonging to 10 universities in our country were evaluated with the formal analysis method. For this purpose, in the study, firstly, a comprehensive literature and archive search was made and the historical periods and local architectural examples cited by the university entrance gates were determined; The architectural elements they imitate are indicated by marking on the images. In the continuation of the study, the historicism and populist approaches at the selected university entrance gates are summarized. According to the findings of the study; It has been determined that the university entrance gates examined are mainly based on historicism and various historical and local architectural references are copied exactly in the facade identity design. It was determined that the most imitated architectural period was the “Seljuk Period”, and the most imitated architectural elements were the “Crown gate, arch and geometric and glazed tile decorations”. As a result, the use of these copied elements by detaching them from the context of the period will not go beyond producing fake realities and simulations. For this reason, instead of postmodernist and historicism applications that are not suitable for the requirements of the age, contemporary applications required by the function should be directed.
