It is expected that different physical features of living environments, on behalf of nature and society, contribute to the “common good” while adhering to the principles of “public interest” and “equality” impacting all individuals, society, and the urban environment, and providing a certain level of quality of life. Recently, income inequalities have become more pronounced due to capital and investment priorities, and increase in population and construction in the emerging urban environments. These changes caused increasing socio-spatial inequalities regarding access to public services, which is the main component of urban and citizen rights. This situation has led to social segregation and formation of unhealthy living environments within the scope of a just urban design. The aim of this research is to evaluate the relationship between living environment features and urban mental health using statistical and spatial analysis methods and to reveal multidimensional relationships in the context of spatial justice and the right to the city. In this context, the study focuses on the spatial distribution of living environment features in relation to the prevelances of mental illnesses, such as anxiety, depression, and mental illnesses associated with alcohol/tobacco use, in the sample area of the central district neighborhoods of Ankara. |
