Abstract: Polymer nanocomposites exhibit significantly improved and important mechanical, thermal, optical, and physicochemical properties compared to pure polymers. The preparation of nanocomposites has attracted intense interest in areas such as food packaging material and biomedicine by using biocompatible nanocomposites. Bionanocomposites are nanostructured materials that improve mechanical, thermal, and gas barrier properties. The use of bionanocomposites in food packaging not only preserves food and extends its life but also creates a more environmentally friendly solution as it reduces the use of plastics as packaging material, Combining and strengthening nanoparticles with biodegradable polymers develop new materials with completely different properties and the negative properties of materials are improved. For this purpose, the processing of this new class of biomaterials is fully investigated in this chapter. © 2022 Elsevier Ltd. All rights reserved.
