Title: | Methods of engineering of biopolymers and biocomposites | Authors: | Edebali, Serpil | Keywords: | Biocomposite Biopolymer Engineering methods Production |
Publisher: | Elsevier | Abstract: | Both biopolymers and biocomposites have come to the fore as alternative materials in many areas due to the disadvantages of industrial polymers such as being obtained from depleted sources and difficult to dispose. This focus might arise in response to the social concerns regarding global warming and environmental pollution, shifting the focus toward materials made from renewable, biodegradable, and recyclable resources. Since they are obtained from natural and sustainable sources and have similar properties of industrial ones, owing to their improved mechanical and thermal properties, they are predicted to have an important place in various industries in the coming years. This chapter attempts to increase the knowledge base of these materials, especially in terms of their properties and production methods to maximize the current state-of-the-art applications. © 2021 Elsevier Ltd All rights reserved. | URI: | https://doi.org/10.1016/B978-0-12-819988-6.00015-X https://hdl.handle.net/20.500.13091/2400 |
