With the growth of urbanization and the economy, new ideas and technologies have been becoming more of an issue today in the preservation of the cultural traditional buildings. Moving has been a rarely preferred method in the preservation of historical buildings, and it should not be preferred unless there is a serious necessity in the field of architectural preservation. This method is the process of moving a historical building to a suitable predefined area by taking it from its original location and from its surroundings when it is impossible to preserve the building where it stands. When moving processes carried out until today are considered, it has been observed that there are two basic methods used for moving buildings: a) moving intact, b) partly or totally disassembling. In this study, the techniques for preservation used when the historical buildings have to be relocated to a different place from their original locations due to the necessity, have been examined. By evaluating moving examples both in the world and in Turkey a comparison has been made between advantages and disadvantages of the method.en_US
