Abstract
Çeviri, antik çağlardan günümüze dek süregelen ve teknolojinin ilerlemesi ile farklı boyutlar kazanan bir alandır. Bunun en somut örneği, 1920‟li yıllarda çeviri alanı içerisinde yerini bulan ve daha önceleri kısıtlamalar nedeniyle her ne kadar bir çeviri türü olarak görülmese de günümüzde araştırmaların ve çalışmaların arttığı görsel-işitsel çeviri (GİÇ) alanıdır. GİÇ, sunulan görsel işitsel materyallerin diller arası aktarılmasını ifade eden bir alandır. Türkiye‟de GİÇ denildiğinde dublaj, dış ses ve altyazı olmak üzere üç farklı görsel işitsel çeviri türünden bahsetmek mümkündür. Bu çalışmada görsel işitsel çeviri türlerinden olan altyazılar Henrik Gottlieb‟in altyazı çeviri stratejileri (açıklama, yorumlama, aktarım, benzetme, çeviri yazı, değiştirme, azaltma, atlama, silme, vazgeçme) ışığında İngilizceden Türkçeye gerçekleştirilen altyazı çevirilerinde kullanılıp kullanılamadığı ve eğer kullanıldıysa bu stratejilerin kullanım oranlarının belirlenmesi amaçlanmaktadır. Dolayısıyla, aksiyon dalında Kara Şövalye, Bilim Kurgu dalında Başlangıç, Dram dalında Hachi: Bir Köpeğin Hikayesi, Komedi dalında Zombilerin Şafağıve korku dalında Kapan filminin ilk 30 dakikalık bölümleri ele alınmıştır. Bütünce temelli yaklaşımın kullanıldığı bu çalışmada gerçekleştirilen analizler betimleyici ve karşılaştırmalı olarak sunulmuş ve her bir strateji açıklamaları ve örnekleriyle birlikte değerlendirilmiştir.
Translation is a field that has existed since ancient times and gained different dimensions through developments in technology. One of the concrete examples of this is the field of Audio-Visual Translation (AVT) which has not been considered as a type of translation for a long time due to its limitations but has taken its place within Translation Studies in the 1920s and the number of researches and studies on this field have increased today. AVT expresses the interlingual transfer of presented audio-visual materials. When it is said AVT, three different audiovisual types come to mind in Turkey: dubbing, subtitling, and voice-over. In this study, subtitling, a type of audiovisual translation, will be analyzed in the light of Henrik Gottlieb's subtitle translation strategies (explanation, paraphrase, transfer, imitation, transcription, dislocation, condensation, decimation, deletion, resignation) to determine whether these strategies can be applied in the translation of subtitles from English into Turkishand if they can be, to find out usage rate. Accordingly, the first 30 minutes of the movies, The Dark Knight in action, Inception in science fiction, Hachi: A Dog's Tale in drama, Shaun of the Dead in comedy and Get Out in horror are discussed. In this study, where the corpus-based approach has been used, the analyzes performed have been presented descriptively and comparatively, and each strategy has been evaluated via its explanations and examples.
