Marine Biopolymers in Robust Biosolar Cells

Abstract

Marine with nearly 250,000 species has a high level of biodiversity and a plenty source of biopolymers. Therefore, marine has gained attention in many fields in recent decades for attractive properties of marine biopolymers including biodegradable, biocompatibility, and biosynthesize. On the other hand, increasing world population, global industrialization, and environmental concern as well as global energy consumption need further discussion. These problematic topics are forced search to new energy source. Marine biopolymers are well studied in many research areas. Nonetheless, there is limited scientific study using with marine biopolymers in solar energy application. Hence, this chapter presents studies on biosolar cell applications of emerging marine biopolymers. In this sense, due to the limited number of studies, cyanobacteria, algae, and chlorophyll in the marine ecosystem are emphasized. © 2025 Elsevier Ltd. All rights reserved.
