Conference Object Transformation of Konya Houses From Traditional To Contemporary in Terms of Privacy(IKSAD Publishing House, 2022) Dönmez, Mustafa Alper; Ulusoy, MineHouses are the places where human beings feel most belonging and spend most of their lives. Housing structures, shaped by the cultural, social and artistic perspectives of individuals, are important resources that transfer the worldviews of the societies in the period they were built to the future societies. Housing structures are transforming with the changing economic, political, cultural, technological and artistic factors over time. Following the effects of these transformations over time will be a reference for new housing typologies to be produced in the future. In this context, 4 traditional residences, 4 apartments and 4 gated community structures in the city center of Konya were examined within the scope of the study. In order to show the findings obtained as a result of the examinations in a concrete way, an examples of each house typology with details has been explained in this paper. It is thought that the findings obtained from this study can contribute significantly to the spiritual and functional needs of the users in the housing structures to be produced in the future.Conference Object Cultural Heritage Analysis With Object Recognition Method: the Example of Konya(BABIL Yayınevi, 2021) Dönmez, Mustafa Alper; Ulusoy, MineCultural heritage is very important in order to today's observe the sociological, economic and technological accumulations of the past societies and to benefit from these savings. Due to this importance, it is a duty of today's society to ensure the best preservation of the cultural heritage, which we will leave to future generations. Process for the protection of cultural heritage is a holistic approach consisting of research, documentation, analysis, diagnosis and determination of the conservation approach. One of the most important stages of conservation studies is the accurate analysis of cultural heritage through reliable documents obtained as a result of extensive research. Efforts to obtain more accurate results in the analysis of cultural heritage have caused different disciplines to work together and develop new techniques to be used in this field. One of the newest techniques used in cultural heritage studies is object recognition methods, the use of which has become widespread in many areas in recent years. The use of object recognition methods allows to obtain more precise, reliable and faster results than traditional methods. An important part of the cultural heritage consists of immovable cultural assets. Especially the houses where societies spend most of their lives is a database that can reflect the characteristics of the period they were built in from various angles. In this study, a residential facade typology algorithm (RFTA) trained by object recognition method, using facede images of 19th and 20th century Konya houses, was created. The facade typology algorithm works as an artificial expert who can predict the style or period in which the houses are built by analyzing the facade characters through the photographs of the houses. In order to test RFTA, photographs of 10 residential buildings in Konya city are presented to the algorithm. According to the results obtained from this study, it is seen that RFTA works with great accuracy without any expert help. This study has been prepared with the aim of providing an innovative basis for future cultural heritage studies.Book Part Cultural Heritage Analysis With Object Recognition Method; the Example of Konya(Literaturk Academia, 2021) Dönmez, Mustafa Alper; Ulusoy, MineBook Part Evaluation of Vernacular Architectural Features of Traditional Konya Houses(Astana Yayınları, 2021) Dönmez, Mustafa AlperArticle Reflections of Privacy and Modesty Approach in Traditional Konya Houses(2023-12-29) Dönmez, Mustafa Alper; Ulusoy, MineArchitecture as old as human history,is formed by the effects of physical (Topography, climate, local materials, etc.), cultural (family and social structure, customs and traditions, religious belief, etc.), economic and technological factors in the region where it is built. Religious beliefs, one of the cultural factors, have been one of the important factors contributing to the shaping of architecture by influencing the way of thinking and behavior of societies since the beginning of history. The religion of Islam also played an important role in the development of Anatolian Turkish architecture. The Islamic belief of the Turkish society living in Anatolia; not only did it cause the formation of religious architecture such as a kulliye, mosque and masjid, but also made important contributions to civil architecture. Especially in the formation of residential architecture, privacy, modesty, neighborliness etc. The reflections of the Islamic worldview are clearly visible. In this study, the effects of the values of privacy and modesty in the content of Islamic worldview on traditional Konya houses were examined and evaluated. For this purpose, 90 traditional Konya houses belonging to the 19th and 20th centuries, located in the historical city center of Konya province, were examined using photographic documentation and surveying methods. Eight of the houses examined were presented as examples in the study. As a result, although it was concluded that the traditional houses in the Konya region were shaped under Islamic factors in the historical process, it was determined that they underwent changes as a result of increasing westernization tendencies during the 20th century.Conference Object Traditional Housing Typology in Konya City Center(IKSAD Publishing House, 2022) Dönmez, Mustafa Alper; Ulusoy, MineArchitectural heritages lose their identities or face the threat of extinction with an increasing momentum due to the urban rent that has emerged due to the accelerating urbanization in recent years and the insufficient protection of the architectural heritage. This deformation, which is exposed to cultural values waiting to be transferred to future generations, is one of the most important problems encountered in ensuring cultural sustainability in the city of Konya. The aim of this study is to contribute to the transfer of information about the traditional texture to future generations by providing documentation about the historical texture in the rapidly transforming city center of Konya. For this purpose, examples of traditional houses in the city center of Konya, whose numbers are decreasing rapidly, have been examined and their periodical features have been introduced. In this context, primarily field and literature studies have been carried out and 80 traditional Konya houses that have survived to the present day have been examined. According to the characteristics of the houses examined, it was concluded that they were built in 4 different periods. The findings showing that the houses examined in this study were built in different periods according to the plan setup, facade type and construction techniques are explained in detail through a representative house sample belonging to each period. It is thought that the findings obtained from the study will form a basis for future typological studies for traditional Konya houses, which are in danger of extinction.Book Part Evolution of Housing Culture Konya Example(Livre de Lyon, 2023) Dönmez, Mustafa AlperHuman beings spend most of their lives in the structures they produce. In particular, the spaces we call “housing” are the type of buildings where most of this time is spent. Houses are important in many ways and are the subject of research because they are the structures with which human beings come into most contact. Many scientists have produced numerous works on Konya residences to date (Fırat, 1996; Kuşcu, 2006; Yoldaş, 2007; Dikici Köseoğlu, 2009; Çağlayan, 2010; Hatır, 2014; Hatipoğlu, 2015; Temizci, 2017). In these paper, Konya housing morphology, typology, development process, etc. By evaluating many issues, Konya housing production process has been tried to be clarified and passed on to future generations. In these studies produced on Traditional Konya houses (Berk, 1951; Sözen & Dülgerler, 1979; Ulusoy, 1992; Kunduracı 2000; Yazıcı 2010; Aygör, 2015; Dönmez, 2021), Apartments (Süslü, 2009; Ulusoy, 1999; Utku, 2015) and gated communities (Yetkin, 2009; Yıldız, 2011; Koç Şahinoğlu 2019) the features of the houses according to the period they were in analyzed and scientific results presented. In this way, each work, different from each other, created the housing history of Konya as a whole. However, since these studies were periodic or typological, they could not address Konya housing development with a holistic approach, and therefore the network of relationships in a broader perspective could not be revealed. In this study, all periods and typologies of Konya houses were evaluated as a whole by conducting literature research and on-site investigations. In this way, it is aimed to produce original results that will contribute to the literature. Conference Object Migrating Architecture(BZT Academi Yayınları, 2023) Dönmez, Mustafa AlperWhat adds soul, identity and memory to every space that has existed on Earth is the societies that live on it. Generally, societies live their lives in the same regions for a long time and establish their own culture and improve it over time. They also produce artistic products as a reflection of the cultures they develop. However, many communities have had to emigrate due to various reasons in almost every era and every region. Although many communities have migrated, they have continued to carry their cultures in the regions they have gone through, adding experiences they have experienced in the migration process. It preserves the cultures they have acquired over many years and reflects the products they produce in the light of their cultures. Conditions that cause them to migrate; sometimes the climate of the region is unfavourable, sometimes it is the period of exile, which is the result of the change of sovereignty. In the process of exile, sorrows painted into the memory of societies have become a subject of many arts such as literature, music and cinema in national and international mosques as a cultured experience of those societies. The reflections of this process in architecture are found in works designed in various regions of the world. In this study, Ahiska Turks and their sorrows in the process who were exiled from the Caucasus were depicted through a monumental structure. For this purpose, it has been aimed to transfer the feelings to the structure design by embodying the meaning values of colors, forms and objects. On this count, the anguish that they lived in the process of exile from the Caucasus was taken away from an abstract point of view and turned into a concrete model.
