Karot Basınç Dayanımınını Etkileyen Faktörlerin Araştırılması
(SETSCI, 2019) Samadoghlı, Ehsanullah; Kamanlı, Mehmet; Cengiz, Salih; Ünal, Alptuğ
Yapıların depreme karşı güvenliğini artırmak için yerinde beton basınç dayanımının belirlenmesinin önemi gün gittikçe artmaktadır. Bunun için mevcut yapıların güvenliğinin artırılması büyük önem arzetmektedir. Bu çalışmada yerinde beton basınç dayanımının belirlenmesi amaçlanmıştır. Beton karot basınç dayanımının belirlenmesinde donatı, döküm yönü ve nem etkisinin araştırılması için iki adet 200 x 100 x 40 cm’lik betonarme blok Üretilmiştir. Üretilen betonarme bloklardan 28. gün sonucu 24’er adet 10/10 ebatlarda döküm yönüne dik, döküm yönüne paralel, donatılı ve donatısız olmak üzere toplamda 48 adet karot alınmıştır. Alınan karotların yarısı üç gün boyunca laboratuvar ortamında bekletilmiş, kalan yarısı ise üç gün boyunca su içinde kür edilmiştir. Üçüncü günün sonunda bütün karotlara başlık yapılarak basınç deneyine tabi tutulmuştur. Basınç deneyi sonucunda su içinde bekletilen karotların basınç dayanımları laboratuvar ortamında bekletilen karot basınç dayanımlarına göre düşük çıkmıştır. Döküm yönüne dik alınan donatılı ve donatısız karotların basınç dayanımları döküm yönüne paralel alınan karotların basınç dayanımlarına göre yüksek çıkmıştır. Döküm yönüne dik alınan donatısız karotları basınç dayanımları döküm yönüne paralel alınan karotların basınç dayanımlarına su içinde ve laboratuvar ortamında bekletilen durumların her ikisinde de yüksek çıkmıştır. Aynı zamanda döküm yönüne dik alınan donatılı karotların basınç dayanımlarında döküm yönüne dik alınan donatısız karot basınç dayanımlarına göre %1-%2 artış görünmüştür.

Numerical Investigation of Torsional Behaviour of Reinforced Concrete Elements With Different Section Shapes
(Konya Teknik Univ, 2024) Solak, Abdulkadir; Cengiz, Salih; Unal, Alptug; Kamanli, Mehmet
When torsional cracks occur in the RC element as a result of torsion effects occurring in the structure, the cross-section stiffness decreases by 1/10-1/30 of the stiffness before cracking. When the design codes are examined, it is seen that the reinforced concrete design under the effect of torsion is not sufficiently emphasized. In the study, it is aimed to determine the cross-sectional properties of reinforced concrete elements that will be exposed to torsion effects in accordance with the behavior of the RC element. In this study, reinforced concrete elements with circular, square and rectangular cross-section shapes were modeled in accordance with the cross-section and reinforcement conditions specified in TEC-2007 and analyzed by ANSYS program. The torsional capacities of the elements increase as the cross-sectional area increases. Circular sections exhibit a highly ductile behavior in terms of rotation. Rectangular sections have more stiffness than circular and square sections to torsion.

Microstructural Analysis on the Effect of Using Recycled Aggregate (ra) in Concrete on Its Internal Transition Zone (itz) Using Scanning Electron Microscopy (sem)
(SETSCI, 2019) Kamanlı, Mehmet; Ghiloufi, Dhikra; Kekeç, Bilgehan; Demirbaş, Burak; Demiröz, Atila; Cengiz, Salih
In the past few decades, the construction industry has been marked by the emergence of Recycled Aggregate Concrete (RAC) as an environment-friendly substitute to conventional concrete to ensure sustainable development and minimize construction and demolition wastes (CDW). This paper investigates the effect of using concrete as recycled aggregate (RA) in Recycled Aggregate Concrete (RAC) on the microstructure of its Internal Transition Zone (ITZ) using Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM). A concrete thin section using a representative sample from the demolished Ataturk stadium in Konya-Turkey that served for 68 years between 1950 and 2018 was firstly prepared. Then, a RAC thin section was prepared after size reduction, coning and quartering of the concrete from the above-mentioned source to obtain the concrete that served as RA in the new concrete mix. The SEM images of the obtained thin sections allowed conducting a microstructural analysis on the ITZ connecting the aggregates to the mortar matrix in the original concrete and to monitor its evolution in the recycled aggregate concrete marked by the development of a new ITZ between the recycled aggregates and the new mortar together with the old ITZ bonding the aggregates to the old mortar still attached to them.

Effect of Eccentricity on the Internal Forces on the Columns of a Reinforced Concrete Building
(2022) Cengiz, Salih; Solak, Abdulkadir; Ünal, Alptuğ; Kamanlı, Mehmet
In this study, a five-storey reinforced concrete building was modeled with the IdeCAD V10 program, and the internal force changes in the columns were examined by creating different eccentricity states. While creating the eccentricity, the center of rigidity was moved away from the center of mass by changing the size of one of the corner columns. The columns whose internal strength is examined are the corner, edge and interior columns on the ground, third and fifth floors of the building. As a result of the analysis, the bending moment and shear force values in the ground floor columns have the highest values, while the torsional moment values are higher at the third floor.

The Effect of Axial Load Ratio and Torsional Moment on the Flexural Capacity of Reinforced Concrete Columns

Conventional steel reinforcement does not have high resistance to corrosion. In addition, considering the cost of conventional steel reinforcement, the search for an alternative reinforcing element continues. In this search, GFRP reinforcements are tested, necessary corrections are made and whether or not they can be used in building elements is included in this study. Both corrosion resistance and light weight of GFRP reinforcement compared to conventional steel reinforcement made this research important. Theses, articles and publications etc. researched in detail and combined in this study. In addition, three GFRP reinforcements were subjected to tensile tests and the results and recommendations were indicated in the study.

The Effect of Combined Loads on Core Sample Strength
(2026) Ünal, Alptuğ; Kamanlı, Mehmet; Solak, Abdulkadir; Cengiz, Salih
This experimental investigation focuses on the influence of structural damage on the concrete compressive strength of reinforced concrete vertical members subjected to complex combined actions consisting of axial load, bending moment, and torsion. Concrete core samples were obtained from structural members tested under various loading configurations, as well as from undamaged specimens serving as reference cases, and their compressive strengths were evaluated comparatively. The experimental results consistently reveal that core samples extracted from damaged members exhibit lower compressive strength values than those obtained from undamaged reference samples. The magnitude of strength degradation was found to vary between 9% and 29%, depending on the specific loading combination applied. The most pronounced reduction in compressive strength, reaching 29%, occurred in specimens exposed to loading conditions dominated by torsional effects. These outcomes provide quantitative evidence that, in the evaluation of seismically damaged reinforced concrete structures, the determination of in-situ concrete strength should account not only for test measurements but also for the loading history and the extent of damage experienced by the structural member.
