Article Assessment of Satisfaction and Environmental Preferences of Students(Konya Technical University Faculty of Architecture and Design, 2016) Khaleghimoghaddam, NavidThis study seeks to explore the role of university campus quality in art students’ satisfaction. Environmental satisfaction is one of the key criteria by which the extent of university educational quality may be determined. An educational environment of high quality campus conveys a sense of satisfaction with university environment that may be physical, social and symbolic. Satisfaction and dissatisfaction from the art students’ point of view can be used as criteria for the campus planning, design and management to improve participation in environmental interaction and desire to more artistic performance. Data collection of the research was undertaken through a field study using photography, behavior monitoring and a questionnaire filled in by a sample of art students in Tabriz Islamic Art University. Descriptions and analysis of the results shows that the art students’ satisfaction with their university campus environment is at a mid-level.Identity and legibility, access in the campus, sociability, livability, teritoriality & control are of the main physical-psychological factors that may influence students’ environm,ental satisfaction. According to the character of artistic creativity, contact with nature can have a positive influence on art students’environmental satisfaction.Article Objective Exploration of the Effects of Architectural Components on Users’ Spatial Evaluation: a Neuroimaging Approach(Konya Technical University Faculty of Architecture and Design, 2022) Khaleghimoghaddam, NavidA review of the studies that have been conducted in the field of architectural evaluation reveals that there is insufficient evidence on objective understanding of how architectural components psychologically affect users. This study draws on advances in neuroscience and aims to objectively examine the neurological process of spatial evaluation to create a pleasant environment for users. Research has used quantitative and experimental methods such as surveys and functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI). To observe the brain’s neural responses and to understand how it works when users evaluate architectural spaces, 36 participants’ brains were scanned with an MRI scanner. In addition, 250 volunteers were asked to participate in a survey experiment to determine the contribution of each sensational and perceptional component to the users’ spatial evaluation. The results showed that the spatial experience of architecture is involved in the brain’s regional, emotional, perceptual, beauty judgment, and evaluation system. Also, the results revealed that pleasant spaces contribute much better to architectural design than unpleasant spaces due to higher attention and memory effects. Furthermore, the results showed that the texture and geometry have a greater ability to produce a pleasant and unpleasant sensation and perception. The high number of patients referred to the radiology polyclinic during the week posed serious problems for the researcher in renting an fMRI scanner and performing the imaging. It is expected that incorporating neuroscience findings into an architectural experience in the form of data can create new perspectives and solutions for qualified architectural design that addresses users’ psychological responses and considers their environmental behavior and satisfaction.Conference Object Recognition of the Concept of Urban Identity Through the Place Attachment Case Study: Konya, Alaaddin Hill(Konya Technical University Faculty of Architecture and Design, 2017) Khaleghimoghaddam, Navid; Yılmaz Çakmak, BilgehanThe “place attachment” is a definition by the meeting point of activities, functional elements, and abstract meanings of the place. A place can come to the scene by the place attachment which has emotional and behavioral characteristics for people. Squares, plays an important role in conceptual, functional and physical aspects at the point of increasing the quality of urban spaces. In this context, it is an important issue to consider the impressive factors that connect people to the space and the square, in the case that the squares are desired, preferred and identity-possessed. This research examines the concept of place attachment through the process of environmental psychology, explains the factors of feeling belonging to the place, and examines the role of place in the formation of the desired and identifiable urban squares. It is based on a cognitive approach aimed at evaluating space perception on Alaaddin Hill in Konya city. This research and field study was carried out by observation and questionnaire on square users, and as well as by analyzing descriptive and inferential statistics. The findings of the study show that most of the users have place attachment. Thus, the user's perception and mind, proves that this square has an impressive role in gaining identity. The article thus prove that there is a relationship between place attachment and space identity, which can be addressed in the design of urban squares. Alaaddin Mosque from the Seljuk period is at the center of this square and is considered as an important factor in the user's place attachment. The easy and convenient access to the meadow enhances, the presence of trees, plants and landscapes, cafes, walking routes, located in the square of the city center and appropriate abstract and concrete landscapes increases the feeling of being connected to the place. It is expected that the results of this research will be effective in designing new squares of contemporary cities.
