Bahsi geçen alanların tasarımı ve planlanması, üzerine iş bölümü ile disiplinler arası etkin çalışma gerektiren süreçlerdir. Bu kapsamda, yoğun insan hareketine konu olan stadyum alanları ve bu alanların yer seçim kararlarına ilişkin ölçütler ve tasarım ilkeleri önem arz etmektedir. Temelde stadyum alanlarına dair erişilebilirlik çerçevesinde şekillenen ölçütler ve tasarım ilkeleri, fiziksel ve mimari, ekonomik, çevresel, sosyal olmak üzere beş grupta sınıflandırılmaktadır. Stadyum alanlarının, kent içerisinde bahsi geçen ölçüt ve ilkelere dayalı olarak yer seçimi kararının verilmesi gerekmektedir. Çünkü stadyum alanları, dünya genelinde, üzerine önemli anlamlar atfedilen ve çeşitli spor ile sosyokültürel faaliyetleri bünyesinde barındıran alanlardır. Aynı zamanda fiziksel anlamda büyük alan kullanımı gerektiren, kentsel alt ve üst yapı açısından maliyeti zorlayıcı özellikleri sebebiyle kent içerisindeki konumları, erişilebilirliği ve kullanım boyutu açısından önem arz eden yerlerdir. Çalışma ile hem yoğun insan hareketine konu olan hem de son yıllarda Konya için verilmiş önemli arazi kullanım kararlarından biri olan Konya MEDAŞ Büyükşehir Stadyumu, erişilebilirlik, fiziksel ve mimari, ekonomik, çevresel, sosyal yer seçim ölçütleri ve tasarım ilkeleri çerçevesinde birtakım sosyal ve mekânsal analizlerle incelenmiştir. Çalışmanın sonuçlandırılmasında önemli belirleyici, seyirci/taraftar grupları, konut kullanıcıları ve ticari işletmeler olmak üzere üç ayrı grupla yapılan anket çalışmaları olmuştur. Yanı sıra, stadyum alanı yer seçim kararının Konya kenti üzerinde kentsel gelişime etkilerinin saptanabilmesi amacıyla mekânsal analizler ve gözleme dayalı analizler ile alana ilişkin planlama kararlarının incelenmesi de tez çalışmasının bulguları açısından önemlidir. Bu kapsamda Konya MEDAŞ Büyükşehir Stadyumu yer seçim kararının, temel kabul edilen erişilebilirliğe ilişkin yer seçim ölçütleri bakımından kısmen zayıf kısmen de güçlü yönlere sahip olduğu saptanmıştır. Fiziksel ve mimari ölçütler ile tasarım ilkeleri açısından da zayıf yönleri ağır basan stadyumun, ekonomik açıdan dönüştürücü etkisi sebebiyle güçlü yönleri olduğu tespit edilmiştir. Stadyum alanının çevresel yer seçim ölçütleri ve tasarım ilkeleri açısından ise kısmen güçlü kısmen zayıf; sosyal yer seçim ölçütleri ve tasarım ilkeleri anlamında çevresinde meydana getirdiği olumsuz etkilerin yoğun biçimde hissedilmesi yönüyle zayıf, nüfusun spora yatkınlığı yönüyle ortaya çıkardığı sonuçlar açısından güçlü yönlere sahip olduğu saptanmıştır.The location decision of urban facilities that are subject to intense human movement in cities affects the city in many ways. The design and planning of the mentioned areas are processes that require division of labor and effective interdisciplinary work. In this context, the criteria and design principles regarding the location selection decisions of stadium areas that are subject to intense human movement and these areas are important. The criteria of stadium location selection are classified into five main groups: accessibility, physical and architectural aspects, economic considerations, environmental impacts, and social factors. The location selection decision of stadium areas should be made based on the criteria mentioned within the city. Because stadium areas are places that are attributed to important meanings worldwide and host various sports and sociocultural activities. At the same time, they are significant urban elements due to their location, accessibility, and large-scale usage, as they require extensive physical space and impose substantial costs on both urban infrastructure and above-ground structures. With this study, Konya MEDAŞ Büyükşehir Stadium, which is both subject to intense crowd movement and one of the important land use decisions for Konya in recent years, has been examined with some social and spatial analyses within the framework of accessibility, physical and architectural, economic, environmental, social site selection criteria and design principles. The important determinant in the conclusion of the study was the survey studies conducted with three separate groups, namely spectator/fan groups, residents and commercial enterprises. In addition, to determine the effects of stadium area location selection decision on urban development in Konya city, spatial analyses and observation-based analyses and examination of planning decisions made in the relevant area have revealed the results of the thesis. In this context, it has been determined that Konya MEDAŞ Büyükşehir Stadium site selection decision has partly strong and partly weak aspects in terms of the basic accepted site selection criteria related to accessibility. It has been determined that the stadium, which also stands out with its weak aspects in terms of physical and architectural criteria and design principles, is a structure with stronger aspects due to its economically transformative effect.
