Taksonomik olarak tür tanımlaması kapsamında, laboratuvarda binoküler mikroskop altında her bir sediment örneğinin bentik foraminiferleri ayrılmıştır. Bu araştırmada toplam 54 porselen test duvarlı, 17 aglütinant test duvarlı ve 17 hiyalin test duvarlı bentik foraminifer türü tespit edilmiştir. Porselen test duvarlı foraminiferler için tür sayısı 1 ile 31 arasında, birey sayısı ise 2 ile 307 arasında değişmektedir. Aglütinant test duvarlı foraminiferler için tür sayısı 6 ile 16 arasında, birey sayısı ise 7 ile 47 arasında değişmektedir. Hiyalin test duvarlı foraminiferler için tür sayısı 1 ile 11 arasında, birey sayısı 1 ile 35 arasında değişmektedir. Deniz ortamları, test duvar bileşimi yüzdelerine göre belirlenmiştir. Buna göre, Topluluk 1'den oluşan ILI1 örneği, aglütinant foraminiferlerin baskınlığına dayalı olarak normal denizel bataklık ortamını göstermektedir. ILI2, ILI3 ILI4, ILI5, ILI6 ve ILI7 örnekleri oldukça yüksek oranda porselen foraminiferden oluşan Topluluk 2'den oluşmakta ve bu veriler aşırı tuzlu bataklık ortamını göstermektedir.The marine sediment samples including benthic foraminifera were collected from the sea-floor at 7 locations from west to east along the investigated coastline of Ilıca Bay approximately of 9 km in length. In the scope of taxonomically species identification, the benthic foraminifera of each sediment samples were separated under binocular microscope in the laboratory. A total of 54 porcelain test walled, 17 agglutinated test walled and 17 hyaline test walled benthic foraminifera species were determined in this investigation. The numbers of species range between 1 and 31, the numbers of individuals range between 2 and 307 for porcelain test walled foraminifera. The numbers of species range between 6 and 16, the numbers of individuals range between 7 and 47 for agglutinated test walled foraminifera. The numbers of species range between 1 and 11, the numbers of individuals range between 1 and 35 for hyaline test walled foraminifera. The marine environments were determined based on the test wall composition percentages. Accordingly, the ILI1 sample consist of Community 1 was indicated the normal marine marsh environments based on the dominance of the agglutinated foraminifera.
