The best section of the Yürükler Formation was measured starting from the Salarlı District towards the Kargasekmez Locality in the southwest direction. Photographs were taken from conglomerate, sandstone, and mudstone along the measured stratigraphic section, samples were taken, and sedimentological observations were made. Red and brown conglomerate, pebbly-sandy mudstone, and mudstone and sandstone intermediate levels form the lithologies of the Yürükler Formation. Matrix-supported conglomerates, which form the dominant lithology of the formation, are mostly mud matrix, and sand matrix to a lesser extent. The unit, which is mostly massive, also presents medium-thick bedded levels. In these lithofacies, normal and reverse gradations and pebble lineups parallel to bedding are also observed in places. The polygenic conglomerate contains moderately dense carbonate cemented and weakly bonded clay-cement levels. Grain-supported conglomerates forming the less diffused lithology of the formation are red-colored, medium-thick bedded. In these lithofacies where no gradation is observed, an imbricated structure is observed from place to place. The bedded conglomerates forming the other less extensive lithology of the formation are red, gray-colored, and medium-thick bedded. The mudstones forming another less extensive lithology of the formation is generally red and brown in color. However, they present cream and yellow hues in some sections, especially in areas where the formation transitions to lacustrine deposits. It should be thick-very thickly bedded. The unit is several tens of meters thick. They contain caliche nodules at some levels. In addition, mudstones presenting gray, black, yellow, and cream color alternations with coal interlayers are also observed in the southwest of the Kolcundamı plateau. According to its sedimentological and lithological characteristics, Yürükler Formation was deposited in an alluvial fan, braided stream, and meandering stream environment.eninfo:eu-repo/semantics/openAccessConglomerateKonyaMudstoneSandstoneSedimentologyYürüklerSedimentary Characteristics of the Yürükler Formation at West of Konya (türkiye)Conference Object
