Abstract: Hızla nüfusu artan dünyamızda, mevcut kaynakların yanlış kullanılması, çevre bilincin tamgelişmemesi ve iklim değişikliğinin etkileri ile su kirliliğini önemli seviyelere taşımış ve temiz suyaulaşımı oldukça zorlaştırmıştır. PhragmitesAustralis bitkisinden alınan numunelerden elde edilen giderim verimleri: BOİ, mg/L %65- %90, KOİ, mg/L%48- %69, Fosfor mg PO4-P/L %61- %75, Amonyak Azotu mg/L %70-%90, AKM mg/L %70 - %85‘dir.
In our rapidly growing world, the misuse of available resources, the inability to developenvironmental consciousness and the effects of climate change have brought water pollution to asignificant level and access to clean and safe drinking water has become very difficult. As a result, asignificant portion of the world's population cannot easily access clean and safe water today. Inorder tosolve this problem, the treatment and reuse of waste waters has become important for human andenvironmental health. Although many technological methods have been developed for the treatment andreuse of waste water, their applicability is very difficult due to the expensive installation and maintenance of these methods. Therefore, alternative treatment methods which are cheaper and easier to operate thantechnological and expensive treatment methods have started to be preferred. In this study, the treatment of some pollutants in Karabük University campus waste water using alaboratory scaled sub-surface horizontal flow system of constructed wetland (CW) planted withPhragmites Australis and Aloevera was investigated. This system, as an alternative to existing expensivetreatment systems, requiresless man power and costsless. A system consisting of two co-compartmentswith width of 30 cm, length of 120 cm and height of 50 cm was designed for examining the purificationyield of two different plants. Also the system has been tested with different hydraulic loads for twodifferent plants. Removal efficiencies from samples obtained from Phragmitesaustralis (1st and 2ndhydraulicloads): BOD, mg /L 65%- 90%, COD, mg/L 48%- 69%, Phosphorus mg PO4-P / L 61% - 75%,Ammonia Nitrogen mg/L 70% - 90%, AKM mg/L 70% - 85%. Removal efficiencies from Aloevera samples
