Occupational Health and Safety; It is a multidisciplinary program that combines health, science, law and management studies with practical skills developed through job site visits and industry experience. It teaches scientific approaches to identify, evaluate and control chemical, physical and biological hazards that may adversely affect workers. You will also learn about psychosocial health factors such as stress, bullying, harassment and fatigue. Your studies are equipped with knowledge, skills and initiatives in the fields of occupational hygiene, workplace rehabilitation, ergonomics, safety and occupational health and safety management. This section was needed because the purpose of the Occupational Health and Safety program was to have technically responsible persons for occupational safety in workplaces. The responsible engineer or occupational safety specialist for Occupational Safety is responsible for the safety of that workplace. Persons with the knowledge, skills and abilities to assume all responsibility for safety in the workplace may prefer this department. Students who will choose this department should be people who follow the laws, will inform while following the newly issued consents about occupational safety, and act in accordance with professional ethical rules. When you graduate from the program, you will be able to follow the information obtained in the field of work and worker safety, use technology effectively, have moral and professional values, and have sufficient knowledge and awareness. Students who graduate from the Occupational Health and Safety department as an associate degree can find a place for themselves in institutions and organizations in the public and private sectors as "Occupational Health and Safety Technician". It is obligatory to have occupational safety specialists in business and industrial establishments where at least 50 people work for more than 6 months. When you graduate from this department, you can make an agreement with more than one company in the private sector. Furthermore, students can take the Vertical Transfer Examination (DGS) held by ÖSYM every year and if they are successful in this exam, they can continue their undergraduate education by transferring to the faculties related to their field indicated in DGS catalogue. With DGS, they can continue their education in the departments of relevant faculties such as Occupational Health and Safety, Emergency and Disaster Management, Business, Health Management, Social Services and International Business Management.
